Decks are one of the most rewarding home improvement projects you can have installed at your home. Aside from adding value, there is nothing more satisfying than sitting on your new deck in the morning with a hot cup of coffee.

We specialize in the construction of IPE decks; the worldís most durable hardwood. This amazing wood is a wonderful ìgreenî building product due to its ultra low maintenance properties, 50+ year lifespan and sustainable reforestation. IPE has natural decay resistance superior to that of cedar or redwood and does not contain dangerous chemical preservatives. IPE is incredibly tight grained, dense enough to sink in water and strong enough to provide structural support; a 1×6 IPE deck board will easily span 24î o.c. We construct most ipe decks with “Ipe Clip” hidden fasteners. This keeps the surface smooth and blemmish free and is up to 3x stronger than other fastening methods.

Ipe lumber will age to a natural silver gray patina, and outlast all other woods with no chemical coating. When allowed to patina, ipe will not rot because of its own natural decay defenses. It will remain smooth and splinter free even after 25 to 50 years. If you desire to keep the rich brown colours that exist in a new installation, you will need to apply an oil-based finish. This is totally optional and does not effect longevity; it only protects color.

IPE is more cost effective than you may think. IPE decking costs more than treated pine or cedar but about the same as redwood and modern high-quality composite deck materials. However, the beauty, refined look and amazing durability of Brazilian Ipe is the most rewarding in the long run.
