A “drain extension” is a buried solid pipe designed to catch water from a concentrated source like a gutter downspout and channel it away from the house foundation. Tho goal is to move water from point A to point B. We often like to relocate the water to a rain garden or slight depression with wet-soil tolerant plants to help soak up the excess water.
